The reporter visited the home market and learned that in order to seize more business opportunities, most custom furniture brands have launched the “zero formaldehyde” concept to attract consumers, claiming that their custom furniture is as safe as fruit, and the edge banding is processed with advanced equipment. There is also a saying that when you choose custom furniture, you use the sense of smell. Without smell, there is no formaldehyde. Consumers believe that compliance with standard environmental protection is "zero formaldehyde." The "zero formaldehyde" concept refers to the absence of formaldehyde. However, many custom furniture brands generally use “particle board”. According to industry insiders, even E0 grades contain formaldehyde, but E0 grade is the highest standard of formaldehyde emission limit in wood-based panels and their products. “Zero Formaldehyde” The idea is still a slap in the eye.

Consumers pay attention to the formaldehyde content of custom furniture

The Hazardous Substance Test included four test indicators for formaldehyde emission, volatile organic compounds (VOC), heavy metal content, and odor. The hazardous substances test adopts the international popular climate box method for the collection of harmful substances. The principle is to put the furniture into the climate chamber, the temperature and humidity and the gas flow simulate the ideal environment, and then collect the harmful substances from the furniture and release them into the climate chamber. The air is tested. In the amount of formaldehyde released by consumers, the lowest sample of Hao Laike and Shangpin is 0.002mg/m3; the final gold apple is 0.013mg/m3; the formaldehyde emission of all samples reaches European E1 level ( 0.124mg/m3) environmental protection standard. In the main scent observation review, the samples of Red Apple, Europa, Kaffno, Bai Desheng and Hao Laike were slightly smelly. In the test of VOC index, the samples of Golden Apple, Red Apple and Bai Desheng were the lowest, as low as 0.01mg/m2h; the VOC release of all samples reached the relevant standards of China and the requirements for volatile organic compounds should not exceed 0.50mg/m2h. The heavy metals in the furniture are mainly from the color paint. In this comparison test, all the custom closet samples did not detect heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, chromium and mercury.

No pungent smell is not equal to no pollution

The reporter learned that most of the custom furniture currently uses particle board and high density board. As for which of the two is more advantageous, the merchants have their own rhetoric, and the salesperson still recommends the environmentally friendly products to consumers without the pungent smell. Custom furniture requires the manufacturer to provide inspection reports of authoritative institutions at or above the provincial level.
